retirement is the biggest scam we've been sold

I'm 42 years old, and I have $0 saved for retirement. 😬

Most financial advisors would probably judge me and run in the opposite direction.

What they don't know is that:

  • I emptied out my savings to pay off my wife's student loans so we can afford to buy our first home.
  • I emptied it out again to keep the lights on for my family while I was building my business.

When I told this Derek Coburn, he didn't judge me at all. He APPLAUDED me.

Because Derek has a very different perspective on retirement.

He even wrote a book about it.

Derek believes the whole retirement thing is completely backwards.

Save every penny now. Miss your kids' games. Skip vacations. Work yourself into the ground.

All so you can "retire" at 65 and do what exactly?

Sit around for 30 years?

Derek's been a financial advisor since 1998. And he kept seeing the same thing over and over.

His clients would finally hit their "number." Finally retire.

Then look around and realize their marriage was basically dead. Their body was broken. And they had NO idea what to do with themselves.

Meanwhile...

They'd spent 93% of the time they'll EVER have with their kids.

(This one hit hard. You can see it on my face in the video. 😂)

So Derek came up with a different approach.

What if you worked 10 more years...

But saved 96% LESS money every month?

I'm talking $110 instead of $2,400.

That extra $2,290 a month?

That's Disney World RIGHT NOW. That's WEEKLY date nights with my wife. That's NEVER missing one of my kids' events.

Not someday.

Today.

We went DEEP in this episode:

  • The "Tale of Two Tonys" that completely flips retirement on its head
  • Why his 70-year-old clients make 3X what they made as CEOs (as consultants!)
  • The $50,000 nighttime snuggle story that might just wreck you
  • How "fun recession" is killing more dreams than any financial crisis

Look, I'm not saying to burn through your entire savings like I did. That's obviously not ideal.

But I'm saying maybe there's another way.

One where you don't sacrifice everything today for a tomorrow that might never come.

99% of business owners I speak to are terrified to niche down. They think that if they get too specific, they'll miss out on sales. Miss out on opportunities. That nobody will see or interact with their content. I get it. It feels risky. But with social media getting more saturated and growth getting harder (especially on LinkedIn), being hyper-niche is actually an unfair advantage, not a concern. Let me explain. If you've ever been to the Carolinas, you've probably seen Cheerwine. It's a...

I just saw this video on social media trends for 2026. No surprise. The number one topic? AI. But here's what I found most interesting... People's resistance towards AI content. Which is ironic. Everybody wants to use AI to go faster. But then they turn around and complain about consuming content that was generated by AI. One of my favorite social media marketing experts, with over a million followers and a billion views, was breaking content into two buckets: AI and human. His advice? Go all...

In 2022, while working in sales for a national payroll company, something weird happened that changed my life forever.Even though I was relatively new to the company, I had built a really good reputation for myself. So good, in fact, that they tapped me on the shoulder to present to 300 people on how to use video in sales.I felt that I had earned the right to start applying for promotions. But I did 7 interviews. 7 final rounds. 7rejections. 😢 The last rejection hit the hardest because it was...
