Reader, it took me 7 months of posting every single day before I landed my first client. In the last year, my one-person business has pulled in over $300,000. And now, I’m trying something new, something I’ve seen work some magic for other brands. Building in public. If you’ve been following brands like Mid-Day Squares or founders like those behind Trello and Kit, you’ve seen it in action. They let their audience in on the process, sharing the wins, the mistakes, and everything in between. It’s not about putting up a perfect front. It’s about being transparent, inviting people into your journey, and letting them see the reality of building something from scratch. This approach does three things:
Recently, I shared a big goal: $150K in sales by the end of Q4. And I’m letting you in on the journey. Each step, each challenge, each small win. It’s nerve-wracking, but it’s also the most genuine way to build something that resonates. In a podcast episode I listened to recently, Kane Kallaway shared the billion-view blueprint for video content:
(Last link in the 'That's Dope' section below). And these principles aren’t just for video, they apply to everything you do in business. And when you combine them with the transparency of building in public, it becomes a powerful way to grow. So, if you’re thinking about building your own audience or sharing your process more openly, here’s what I’ve learned so far:
That’s it for this week. I’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes updates on my LinkedIn and in these newsletters, so stay tuned if you’re curious to see how this experiment plays out. Peace! ✌🏼 🤘🏼That's Dope

Stress-free content systems for founders and companies
In 2015, I had an engaged audience of 500,000 listeners for my podcast... BUT I made $0. I had no idea how to MONETIZE my content. Over 3 years running a content agency and consultancy, I’ve spoken with hundreds of business owners about creating content. In fact, I actually asked 319 of them what their biggest challenge is... No. 1 Answer: My content doesn’t bring in business No. 2 Answer: It takes way too much time to produce. Nothing else is even close. I set out to build a solution that...
I'm 42 years old, and I have $0 saved for retirement. 😬 Most financial advisors would probably judge me and run in the opposite direction. What they don't know is that: I emptied out my savings to pay off my wife's student loans so we can afford to buy our first home. I emptied it out again to keep the lights on for my family while I was building my business. When I told this Derek Coburn, he didn't judge me at all. He APPLAUDED me. Because Derek has a very different perspective on...
Yesterday, I saw a post calling Alex Hormozi a liar. (of course, the post got a ton of attention) But I don't think he's a liar at all. I don't think most business entrepreneur gurus you see on social media, with millions of views and followers, are lying to you. They're just playing a completely different game. The audience that they've built gives them leverage that you do not have as somebody with 1,000, 5,000 or even 10,000 followers. And does that mean that I'm not going to take some of...
